Health care calls for innovation

This eJourney will help you think outside of the box

The German healthcare system is fragmented among different regions (16 Länder) and a myriad of care providers, with 105 public sickness funds and about 45 private health insurances, 1.927 Hospitals and 360.000 physicians. Primary care providers cooperation is strongly regulated, and a doctor is for example not allowed to associate with physiotherapists. Local experimentations are only allowed since 2000, opening the way to new modes of organization such as integrated care networks.
